Q. What type of vehicle do you use?

Our Blue Mountains tours are conducted in Toyota Coaster mini-coaches.

Q. Are your vehicles air conditioned?

Yes, all of our vehicles are air conditioned.

Please note: Our guides do not consider themselves bus drivers, but professional tour guides. The vehicles they drive are simply “a means of getting to and from the Blue Mountains”. If you are looking for a five star coach experience where the talking point of your day is the vehicle, then we suggest you book another tour.

Q. Are there any student/senior concessions etc?

No. Please understand that at $ 55.00 our tour is already at an amazingly low price. The price of our Blue Mountains tour has remained roughly the same for the last 10 years.

Q. Why are you so inexpensive?

We have relatively low overheads and do not need to spend ridiculous amounts of money advertising in order to get people on our tours, as we rely a great deal on word of mouth.

Fact: More than 50% of our guests have either been recommended to do our tour or have done our tour before.

Q. What does the tour include?

Q. Should I bring my own lunch?

If you have a special diet, you are more than welcome to bring your own lunch, otherwise , it is not necessary. In the past when we included lunch we found that there was always someone in the group that didn’t like what they were served. These days, our guides find it much more satisfying to stop in one of the villages of the Blue Mountains and have the guests buy their own lunch.

Food is relatively inexpensive in the Blue Mountains and there are a variety of places to eat.

Q. Do you get time to experience all of the rides at Scenic-World?

Yes. Most of our guest usually choose to do a nature walk down into the Jamison Valley either at Echo point or down Furber stairs and then catch the Scenic-railway back to the top.

This option does not interest everyone. If you are not interested in walking down into the temperate rainforest of the Jamison Valley, your helpful guide will gladly suggest other alternatives.

If you are particularly interested in experiencing all three rides at Scenic World, then please notify the driver in the morning and they will be more than happy to organize this for you.

Q. What walks do you offer?

For the sake of providing a rough guide we have detailed several walks that are regularly conducted on our tour. Our walks have been carefully selected so as to cover the areas that have the most to offer in terms of geographic and biological diversity.

Overcliff track Walk

This is a very spectacular walk. From the car park we set off on the first leg of the walk and make our way down a gradual flight of stairs to Princes Rock Lookout. To get to this lookout it is only a 10-15 minute walk and is well worth the effort. The view overlooking Wentwoth falls is second to none. From here you will have the option of retracing your footsteps back to the bus or continue a guided walk along a nature track that offers great views of the surrounding sandstone cliffs. Along the walk you will see some sizable eucalyptus trees as well as some interesting wildflowers. This walk also offers several excellent lookouts with clifftop views over the Jamison valley.

The Giant Stairway - Federal pass walk.

This walk entails walking down a very steep staircase of approximately 1000 stairs. The views on the way down are absolutely breathtaking. It is no surprise this walk is so famous. When you get to the bottom of the staircase your legs will almost certainly feel a little wobbly. From here you turn right and walk along an 2 to 3 kilomtere undulating rainforest pathway at the base of the cliff until you arrive at the Scenic Railway platform. This walk is perfectly suited for those that want to get away from the big crowds. It is worth keeping in mind, the best views are on the way down into the valley, as once at the bottom, you will not get too many expansive photo oportunities due to the density of the forest. After taking one more look at the Jamison valley you then catch the Scenic Railway back to the top of the valley where you meet up with the rest of the group.

Furber rainforest walk.

This beautiful walk has almost as many steps as the Giant Staircase but the walk down is not as difficult as the Giant Staircase. It is better suited for those who like to walk slowly so as to savour the unique atmoshere of the rainforest. The forest pathway which is thick with ferns, levels off regularly and offers numerous lookouts which overlook the Three Sisters and Katoomba Falls. Aproximatelty half way down the guide will give you the option of leaving the main track and and make a detour to get a really good view of the falls. This walk is a popular option with our guides and provides a perfect opportunity for our guests to experience a warm temperate rainforest. See Blue Mountains Flora

Rainforest boardwalk (no stairs)

Catch the Scenic railway down into the valley and the Scenic Cableway back to the top. This is a pleasant and easy walk. It is not uncommon for people to give the above two walking options a miss and choose to simply catch the Scenic Railway down into the Jamison Valley. Once down in the valley, there is a beautiful fern filled boardwalk that takes you to the base of the Scenic Cableway. This boardwalk takes about 10-15 minutes. Because there are so many interesting artefacts on display, you could easily extend this out to 40 minutes. Have your camera ready as you will get some great photo opportunities whilst coming up on the Scenic Cableway. Please note that each of the rides cost $ 10.00 so you will require $ 19.00 if participating in this walk.

Please note, the above walks serve as a rough guide only. Even though they are conducted on a regular basis, they may vary from day to day depending on weather conditions, National Parks maintenance work and so on.

Other walks we offer include:

The Grand Canyon walk- Blackheath

Govetts Leap to Evans Lookout walk- Blackheath

Govetts leap to Pulpit Rock walk-Black heath

Prince Henry cliff top walk- Katoomba

Darwins walk-Wentworth Falls

Valley of the Waters-Wentworth Falls

Q. What is my required fitness level?

This depends on the walks you choose to do and the amount of walking you would like to do during the day. We find nothing more rewarding than entertaining a group of people, all with different fitness levels and interests, and have them all return back to Sydney very satisfied. The answer to this really lies in what your walking intentions are on the day.
Please see: How much walking is there on the tour?

Q. What is the average age group?

We do not ask people how old they are when they make a booking! Our guides have found that those groups that have had the largest variation in age and nationality generally lead to some of the most entertaining and enjoyable days.

Q. What should I bring?

If you want to experience the Scenic-Railway then you should bring along $ 10.00

Also, bring along a few dollars to buy something to eat for lunch. Food is relatively inexpensive in the Blue Mountains( particularly in Katoomba) and there are many great places to eat.

We also recommend you bring sunglasses and a camera.

Q. What should I wear?

Please dress according to the weather conditions

Please bring a hat (preferably wide brimmed) and appropriate footwear. Trainers (sneakers) or sandals are okay. Hiking boots are great, but not essential as most of our walks are on good tracks or trails.

If you are, doing our tour during a cooler time, then we would suggest you bring warm clothing. Don't go to the additional expense of buying a jacket to keep warm for the day simply because you left yours back in Sydney.

In the warmer weather please dress lightly. Shorts or loose trousers are perfect. We would still recommend you bring a jacket just in case the weather decides to turn.

Q. Do I have to tip the driver/guide?

No. However, if you have a great day and would like to show your appreciation by offering a dollar or two, then the driver would be very appreciative. Please remember, you will not be made to feel uncomfortable if you choose not to tip. This is your choice. What is more important is when people send us an email telling us that this was one of the most enjoyable days that they have had in Australia.

Q. Why are the Blue Mountains called the Blue Mountains?

The Famous blue haze of the Blue Mountains is caused by sunlight rays passing through oil droplets. These concentrated droplets which are continuously being discharged from the forests of Eucalyptus trees, scatter the light, creating the blue haze that gives the mountains their name.

Q. Do you take a ferry ride back to Sydney?

We do not advertise the ferry from Homebush bay to Circular Quay as part of our daily itinerary.

If you really want to do this, then for an additional cost of $ 5.00 (pay driver on the day) we’ll get you on the ferry.

Note: The ferry terminates at Circular Quay. From here you must make you own way back to your hotel.

Suggestion: In the morning, why not catch the ferry from Circular Quay and join up with the tour at Homebush bay.

Q. Do you also go to Jenolan Caves?

Yes, but we only provide this as an overnight package. The Jenolan Caves are approximately 3 - 3.5 hours from Sydney. That is nearly a seven hour return trip without sightseeing. I hope you can see how we would not be able to maintain the same quality of Blue Mountains tour that we presently offer if we were to include the Jenolan Caves in the one day.

Q. Do you stop for regular bathroom (toilet) breaks?

Yes. Remember, the drivers are human too. They also appreciate bathroom breaks.

Q. What time do you leave and what is the expected return time?

For departure times please see PickUp Location and times.

The return time can vary depending on the traffic conditions and your drop off location. A rough estimate is around 6.30.p.m.

If you need to get back into Sydney much earlier than this and would still like to experience our tour, give us a call and we should be able to arrange an earlier shuttle back for you.

Q. Will we see a Kangaroo?

The likelihood of seeing kangaroos in their natural environment is nearly 100 per cent. Occasionally, particularly after heavy rain, the roadway floods and it is generally only on this occasion where you may not see kangaroos in their environment.
